(CLOSED AS OF 10/04/2016)
The original announcement follows:
The UP-Philippine General Hospital Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS) is now accepting applicants for its Residency Program.
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences of the University of the Philippines College of Medicine – Philippine General Hospital offers a full-time residency training program in the specialty of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. Completion may qualify graduates for the diplomate examinations of the Philippine Board of Ophthalmology.
Residency Training at the DOVS is a three-year program that provides the resident with a rich spread of diverse and interesting cases. The challenging patient load throughout residency makes our graduates ready and confident in dealing with all eye conditions. Training is closely supervised by competent and dedicated faculty. Residents rotate in the general ophthalmology clinic and in all the various subspecialty clinics which are accredited by the Philippine Board of Ophthalmology. Training and service at the department are also supported by a well-furnished Operating Room Complex and Eye Instrument Center. Research output and teaching responsibilities to junior medical staff and students are requisite tasks. Supervision by senior consultants combined with the rich clinical material make possible meaningful - and at times publishable - research.
On the average, 8 applicants begin Year One of Residency on January 1. Completion of the Basic Course in Ophthalmology is a Requirement.
