The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences congratulates Dr. Paolo Antonio Sandico Silva on his being named Awardee for Medicine of the Ten Outstanding Young Men of the Philippines in 2013, and, Outstanding Young Scientist by the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) of the Department of Science and Technology last June 2014. Dr. Silva completed his residency training in the year 2005, and served as chief resident in the year 2006. He manages to do clinical and research work in both sides of the globe - in the United States at the Beetham Eye Institute, Joslin Institute-Harvard University, and, here at home in the Philippines. Services and scientific undertakings are benefitted by his presence not only in numerous private institutions he is affiliated with. He continues to contribute also to the UP Manila-PGH system through work done in the Institute of Ophthalmology of the National Institutes of Health of the Republic of the Philippines. The DOVS joins the Filipino people in lauding and drawing inspiration from his contributions to science, country, and humanity.
