Patient Care
Cataract, Retina Surgery Missions
Philippine Chi Liam Tong Foundation
Over a thousand of our highly vulnerable countrymen suffering from cataract and complicated retinal disorders have received fully sponsored surgery through the generosity of the Philippine Chi Liam Tong Foundation. Surgeries have been done in-house, since 2008, for indigent patients with no financial means nor any form of insurance/subsidies. It has been a vital augmentation of the Sentro's abilities. When patients who come to our national referral center happen to have difficulty coursing through various avenues to finance treatment, care has been expedited. This has been a fruitful and valuable partnership that truly enables the Sentro and Department to fulfill its mandate, and also contributes to improved access to care in the community.

Surgical and Medical Assistance
Philippine General Hospital Medical Foundation For some, the PGH is the hospital for last resort. At times, this is out of the need for tertiary, specialized care. In others - and unfortunately, far too frequently - it is because of the lack of resources. Expenses that can be absorbed by Filipinos living above the poverty line are, for these countrymen of ours, catastrophic and devastating, with the potential to impact the welfare of succeeding generations in a family. This has been cushioned if not prevented many a time by the help of the PGH Medical Foundation. Diagnostic procedures, surgical needs have been financed for many of our patients, minimizing the economic and social costs eye disease may bring.
